POW Memorial
The POW Stalag XIB - 375 memorial gates were the brain child of Mr. Allan Percell and ex RAF POW Mr. Ken Brown from 207 Sqn RAF who was a POW in Fallingbostel. The gates are on the site of the German guards house the foundation of which gives the site its support. The gates were built by 2BN Reme workshop. The site was officially opened in 2005 on the 16th April by the then GOC and various local mayors and many ex POWs from the UK.
In 2006 a plaque was

In 2007 a plaque was added to the wall, unveiled by Mr. David Fleicher to remember the American POWs. It is in the form of a ruptured duck, the American veterans badge.
This year ( 2008 ) we again want to add a plaque to the wall, details will be unveiled at a later date, but it is hoped to remember the Polish POWs. Since 2006 the wall in Germany is part of the Fallingbostel Military Museum project and we are trying to bring it in to the public eye more each year. Last year its sister twin was built in the UK by RSM Mark Carlise and the men of 2BN Reme Workshop at the memorial gardens in Litchfield staffs. This enables all POWs to visit a site in the UK. There are many future plans to keep the monument alive to remember the sacrifice made by the POWs of all lands during the second world war. Further information and details of the POW memorial day in April can be obtained from curators.
